my apartment

For the 5-second-song-b-side thing on the forum.  Written and recorded crappily using builtin laptop mic on Wednesday night, before I had to run off to hospital on Thursday to have a misbehaving appendix removed. :o

boogie thing

If you were ever looking for a good excuse to keep me away from pianos, here’s one:  a long improvised boogie-woogie piano jam made bearable thanks to “enhance timing” in Garageband (set to heavy 16th swing).

the motorcycle song (don’t ride me like a pony)

The week 2 challenge at fawm was “write a song from the point of view of an inanimate object”.

I don’t actually know anything about motorcycles.

rock star

Big day of recording today! Here’s another. :)

This was actually recorded on an acoustic, cause my electric needs intonating.  The distortion is a couple of GarageBand filters.

fawmed

This song basically wrote itself, which is alternately hilarious and retarded if you think about it too much.

the busy morning system administrator blues

My first entry for fawm oh ten.

Not real happy with the vocal take, but that’s what you get when you don’t have a few weeks to spend learning the song properly before recording.  Also experimenting with a thick gravely sound, which I’m not used to and a bit wobbly at.

Fits the first week challenge topic of “jobs” quite nicely, albeit completely coincidentally.

baby baby

Here’s a quick one-take demo I wrote sporadically over the last few months of 2009 and recorded just after Christmas.

I’m intending to re-record it properly when I’ve got time to do so, but in the meantime it’ll do as a bit of a sample of what you can expect from my fawm contributions.
