the motorcycle song (don’t ride me like a pony)

The week 2 challenge at fawm was “write a song from the point of view of an inanimate object”.

I don’t actually know anything about motorcycles.

Somehow I accidentally wrote a trip-hop song.

rock star

Big day of recording today! Here’s another. :)

This was actually recorded on an acoustic, cause my electric needs intonating.  The distortion is a couple of GarageBand filters.

fawmed

This song basically wrote itself, which is alternately hilarious and retarded if you think about it too much.

the busy morning system administrator blues

My first entry for fawm oh ten.

Not real happy with the vocal take, but that’s what you get when you don’t have a few weeks to spend learning the song properly before recording.  Also experimenting with a thick gravely sound, which I’m not used to and a bit wobbly at.

Fits the first week challenge topic of “jobs” quite nicely, albeit completely coincidentally.

yo

So I’ve signed up for fawm this year as a kick start into recording some of my own music.  I’m hoping that a month of intense writing and recording without time to humour the inner critic will get me more comfortable in front of the microphone, as well as a bit more practised at recording and mixing and such.

I don’t know if I’ll make the 14 songs; I suspect I probably won’t.  I’d sooner have 4-5 songs I’m proud of than churn out a bunch of junk just to say I hit the 14.

I’ll be posting my tracks here, and with any luck they should also be playable on the fawm jukebox.

So um.  Hi. :)
